Your primary care physician takes care of your basic patient needs. Whenever you need appointments for things such as an annual physical or a referral to see a specialist, your primary care physician can help. You can choose a primary care doctor in either internal medicine or family medicine. Once you establish a patient relationship, your physician can help coordinate your health care.
